In this article, we want to review the grades of items we have to provide a better understanding for both buyers and sellers.

Each item that is listed on SecondGear has been inspected by our team and tested for functionality. For example, with strollers we check the folding mechanism, the brakes, seat adjustment, straps & buckles etc. For electronic items, we test all modes of operation, and if applicable; smart connectivity functions such as Bluetooth or mobile app pairing. 

Everything that is listed has passed a functionality test and is in good working order.

Our grading is based on the cosmetic and physical condition of the items. We have four grades of items available for purchase:

• Open Box 
• Used Excellent 
• Used Great
• Used Good 

Each grade has its own characteristics, and it is important to understand these differences before making a purchase.

Open Box Items: 

These are items that have never been used but have had their packaging opened. They are often store returns or unwanted gifts. These items may show some signs of handling from when they were taken out of the box and inspected.

Used Excellent Items: 

These are items that have been gently used and well looked after by their previous owner. They may have minor cosmetic flaws e.g a scratch or mark but are otherwise in excellent condition.

Used Great Items: 

These are items that have been used and show more signs of wear than Used Excellent items. They likely have scratches and scuff marks, fabrics may be faded.

Used Good Items: 

These items have very visible signs of wear, paint chips, scratches, and faded or worn fabrics. Whilst these items may be cosmetically flawed they are still in good working order.
